Today we continue with Chapter 13 of the book Christ the Healer by F. F. Bosworth. The title of this chapter is “Why Some Fail to Receive Healing from Christ”.  We’ve talked about the traditions of men and other reasons but when it comes down to it, the reasons why some fail to receive healing are never God reasons. They are always people reasons.

It’s never because God said no. Let’s be clear on that. If God promised it, the promise is guaranteed to come with a yes because of who Jesus is and what Jesus has done.

2 Corinthians 1:20 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

20 For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ]. For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.

Anytime we do not receive the promises of God, it’s almost always because you and I have not yet taken hold of the truth revealed in God’s Word and applied it in our lives.

I say almost always because sometimes others are involved.

Let me give you an example. You have a need and God lays it on the heart of someone to fufill that need. If that person doesn’t yield to God, then that may delay your need getting met. The opposite of that is, someone else may be depending on you to hear from and obey what God is telling you and leading you to do on another’s behalf.

However, when it comes to healing, you can always stand in faith for yourself. Just like salvation, once you hear the Word of God concerning salvation,  you don’t need anyone to lead you in prayer. You don’t need anyone to do anything. You can go to God and by his grace, you by faith talk hold of this wonderful forgiveness and eternal life offered only in Christ.

Yes, some can come along and join faith with you but if nobody is there, you can still believe God now.

In our next podcast, I’m planning on covering Paul’s Thorn in the Flesh and devote at least one whole podcast to that. But, today I want to just touch on a few of the reasons Bro. Bosworth talks about as to why people are hindered in receiving their healing.

One he mentions is not honoring and recognizing the authority and power of God’s Word.

Let’s look at Psalm 138:2   (ESV)

I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and our faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.”

God has exalted the name of Jesus above all things and his Word. Until we have this honor for the Word of God that we are taught in Scripture, the power of God’s Word in our lives will be hindered.

If we are not believing and obeying the Word, then how can we stand on the Word in faith for the promises it reveals?

Make a decision today. Whatever the Word says, I believe and obey. In doing so, we are believing and submitting to God.

Remember the Words of Jesus in Luke 6:46 , “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?”

Jesus is calling us to trust and obey. Let’s not live a life of unbelief and disobedience.

I heard a minister once say, “The key to a successful Christian life is, be quick to believe, quick to obey and quick to repent when you don’t.”

Amen.

Blessings in Christ,

Tim Dumas
